SAGEWAV, the latest eight-track EP from Chicago artist Sage The 64th Wonder, marks the official debut of Ohio producer TLR as a primary collaborator. After first appearing alongside Sage on Meal Ticket 5, TLR's production hinted at a chemistry that deserved a larger canvas. On SAGEWAV, that partnership takes center stage.

From the opening moments, the project leans heavily into nostalgia without sounding trapped in the past. The production draws from the atmosphere of Toonami, late-night anime broadcasts, and the golden era of early-2000s media, creating a soundscape that feels both familiar and refreshingly modern. Rather than relying on nostalgia alone, Sage uses those influences as the backdrop for sharp lyricism and confident performances across the EP's eight tracks.

Standout records like "Black Uppity" and "Daimyoh," featuring NATIV.SUN of SlumpGang777, showcase the project's versatility while reinforcing the chemistry between Sage and TLR. The production remains cohesive throughout, allowing each song to contribute to a larger listening experience instead of feeling like a collection of unrelated singles.

What makes SAGEWAV particularly compelling is how naturally it blends its influences with Sage's artistic identity. The project doesn't imitate a past era—it reinterprets it through his own lens, resulting in a sound that feels authentic rather than derivative.

Among the eight tracks, "Melanated Skin Suit" and "Close Combat Wording" stood out as personal highlights. Both songs capture the strengths of the EP, pairing memorable production with focused writing that rewards repeat listens.

With SAGEWAV, Sage The 64th Wonder continues to refine a distinctive creative direction while introducing one of his strongest producer collaborations to date. For listeners looking to experience the project firsthand, the EP is available through Sage's official website and on Bandcamp.
